But I think you forget that Signal is one of the intricate parts of the puzzle in combat,

You were the guys to know in OIF 1 if you wanted to skip the lines for a call home. We delivered all our ice to the signal guys in exchange for unlimited phone access. "Signal: You can talk about 'em but you can't talk without 'em".

Don't bitch about being deployed for bad weather..

You are making up for it by bitching about people that don't meet YOUR idea of serving in the military is. But, yeah, I can see how getting mail instead of email and lag time in conversation would be soooo much rougher than they have it. Riding around in a dam boat would definitely prepare you pass judgement on other members of the armed services.

I gotta go now. I'm going visit my buddy that was in the reserves. He can't get around anymore without a wheel chair. His legs are useless due to the shrapnel in his back from an IED (<- true). He was injured within the first 2 weeks in Afghanistan. Over 20 years in the reserves and less than 2 weeks deployment. He shouldn't bitch about it.

I did it to fly. If I stay to my MSD, I'll take my family through 100 years of military aviation.

I've done both. The difference is the amount of training you get, obviously active gets more training time, but give a Guard or Reserve unit 30 days pre mob training and then 30 days of mob training and they are interchangeable with active units.

** Talking Army here, no idea about the other branches.

I think that also depends on what your job is and how technical it is. I know AD infantry guys who just clean and cut grass all day

AD vs Reserves also has a lot to do with your service and job. A pilot in the guard/reserves has the exact same training requirements as their AD counterparts. Don't paint the all of the ARC with the same brush just because that's how it is in the Navy.

I agree. It's such a safe job that I don't count it as service time. It's just a job like the military people that work back here in the states. It's just a job.

You said "after" - earlier in the thread.

I figured it was off limits.

Nice another floating douchebag. How many of your brothers died during your deployment?

Respect what he went through, and have empathy for the situation...However, my argument has been against the guys who claim Katrina, etc. as their deployments

It's obvious GK had a USNR or USMCR bang his significant other - now he doesn't want to be a brother-in-arms to all of us, just those he deems worthy - like other swabbies, most of whom didn't sniff combat (and I respect every single one of them who raised his/her hand and stepped forward), as opposed to many guardsmen and reservists who had multiple tours to theater, got wounded, got maimed, got killed, etc.
