True story - DV - I was in (attached, actually) 3-156th in the mid-90s - we went to Fort Hood for a faux NTC rotation - we had NTC O/Cs, but we were at Fort Hood against regular army, Fort Hood-based OPFOR. Anyway, our mortar platoon got the highest evaluation of any mortar platoon - EVER - by the O/C team. They asked, "How do you do that?" We replied, "Well, the platoon sergeant has been the platoon sergeant for 12 years. Some of the crews have been intact for almost 10 years." The look on their faces was priceless.

I know exactly what you're talking about. When I was regular army our tank crews were all the time going through transitions. You'd never have a full 4 man tank crew intact for more than a year or two, if that. But when I came off active duty and went into the guard, I served with the same crew for almost 5 years. During that time we did the same training requirements that I had when I was active duty. The cohesion that is built up over that time is something that we just never had in the regular army.

In my honest opinion (based on my personal experience in both regular army and the guard), my guard tank crew was as good or better than any regular army tank crew i served with. Now at the battalion level, I'd say regular army units can maneuver somewhat better, but when you pit one crew vs. another, Guard tanks crews are (or were)equal if not better.

Bitches try and compete who can collect the most

I caught some E-7 in her car straight up looking at my dick in ranger panties while we were marching back from pt. I just smiled and and she shook her head. Needed the laugh after getting smoked for the last 90mins

There is a recruiter down the street from my office. I'm going to see him this week.

You will need to see an Officer Selection Officer about a Law or Air MOS. Not just your regular recruiter. In the Marines, these used to be the only guaranted MOS's prior to going to OCS. Not sure now with the reductions.

Yeah dude. Don't go see a regular rwcruiter. He'll tell you you need to go enlisted first to get into the officer JAG program or some shite like that.

Which service are you going?

They were sending an OCS packet for USMC Jag to every graduate of an ABA approved law school for some time. I think it is part of the deal, although their Jag officers have to complete regular OCS (USMC only has the one) - while other services treat Jags more like doctors, dentists, and other special branch officer - direct commission and only a familiarization course, rather than the full blown treatment that line officers get.

(FTR - I'm a line officer in the USAR, although I am a civilian attorney - Jag, active and National Guard, didn't return my call on several occasions - their loss.)

don't give up without a fight Sabi, make them tell you no, no, no, until you beat them into submission and they say yes, the ultimate trump card is if you know, or can, through connections, get a politician to back your recommendation

Yeah. Going to MEPS on Friday. Was going to go today but they came back and needed more paperwork from the Marines so it got pushed back. Have to retake my PAST because the last time I took it was 5 months ago but should be no biggie. I'll probably be close on the run though.

Yeah due diligence pays itself back 10 fold - true story - Tim James, formerly of Miami Hurricanes and Miami Heat basketball fame wanted to man up and serve his country - although having a college degree, his recruiter apparently needed 6 foot, 9 inch tall fuel handlers:

Here's the big man, then Specialist Tim James, back row, center

I'm hoping he got redirected to OCS after his deployment.

(For the curious - then Major Ace Midnight is front row, first from the left, kneeling, )

Well, I'm probably too old to be selected by the Marines. I hear the Navy is the hardest to get into.

At this point, I probably would choose any branch that chose me.

There are a few bars in ft walton you might want to avoid until you make it to block 3 that the cadre like to drink at

That and I hope you almost don't get into fights with CCT's like we did out in Destin.

Not like that at all - the NBA got wind of where he was and what he was doing (he apparently didn't tell them directly - he was already "retired" from the NBA) - and sent somebody to do some fluff reporting and photo ops - that was the round he made to HQ company staff of Task Force Odin. I was a theater observor from Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL).

Good times, good times at COB Speicher.

let them make that call, market it as you patriotically saving them the $(I know, military oxymoron,) by going to law school, passing the bar, and having legal experience, all on your dime, exceptions are made when you have a ready made specialty like yours
