Well if it makes you feel any better free will regarding salvation or free will even generally speaking is not something that Jesus entertained.

He essentially taught the same thing that Martin Luther taught regarding the bondage of the will.

John 6:43-45
Jesus answered them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me—

Get rid of property taxes and I'm back in the Christianity game.

Since it is what's standing in the way, those taxes are gonna get a lot more costly when you pass than what you actually pay the Government in dollars.

Walking on water and healing people on the spot is still a big deal in my book.

But did this really happen? I mean, that's what it says in the bible, but how do you know for sure that it was actually done?

Read some R.C. Sproul or listen to Alistair Begg. They'll help you with a correct understanding of Scripture.

The correct understanding being Calvinistic Presbyterianism I assume.

Sadly that hermeneutic you advocate, if taken to logical extremes, will make possible the scenario where it is pointless to pray for the salvation of your loved ones. Those that perhaps, the Father hasn't pre-destined and put into Jesus' hand. My sons fates respecting salvation would be fixed and my prayers ineffective and even irrelevant on their behalf.

Ironically, you call out (Roman?) Catholicism and non-denominational faith communities for having similar approaches to questions. That's just incorrect. Like you overemphasize and over define "pre-destination", so to do the Roman Catholics with the "Real Presence" respecting Holy Communion believing it necessary to build Transubstantiation to explain it.
Someone needs to tell the theologians to just shut up and back off.
Me: "How does God do that"?
Theologian: "Not sure, but he does over and over again. See, right here in your Bible".

The great irony is the Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther, Calvin, and Calvin's later followers, are, in large measure responsible for the shattering of the Church into something like 33,000 different denominations and sects, with each often over emphasizing some particular aspect of theology or worship to the diminution of others.

Little wonder a troubled, fearful, thirsty, starving world looking for water and bread throws its hands up and mocks Christians for our theological and liturgical disunity and lack of love for them and each other.

We've got to get it together and do better. IMHO.

Jesus should have known, he did know, that man was not strong enough to freely follow the teachings of Christ. Man is rebellious and easily gives in to vice

In that case, why did he give us free will? Did he make a mistake?

Realistically, Jesus could show up today...perform the same miracles he performed then, and still be persecuted and eventually shunned and put to death in some form by any politician in power (Republican or Democrat). Humans suck. Nothing has changed.
