What many people don’t understand about 4 way stops

At a four way stop, the driver on the right is the captain of the intersection.
Just because you get to your stop half a second before the driver on your right doesn’t mean you just proceed on through. You look to your captain to make sure you have his approval first.
By the same token, just because the driver on the right may legally have the right of way, doesn’t mean you should repeatedly insist they go first. If the captain is motioning for you to go, you go.
You look to the captain, you defer to the captain, you follow the captain’s orders. If everyone understood this, 4 way stops would operate much more smoothly.

ugh. This is why you have people constantly letting off the brake and going one millimeter then braking again because everyone is doing it all at once waiting for the perseon on their right to go.
This isn't complicated at all...who got there first gets to go first.

I'll take some confusion over someone who doesn't know how a 4 way stop works period. A couple of weeks ago we got off at the Lobdell exit and the lights right before the Exxon were out. We had some cultured individuals honking at us non-stop and then cursing us out as they passed because we stopped at the light and waited our turn to go.

Whoever stops first goes first.
If you stop at the same time the person on the right goes first.

Florida has different laws than Arkansas I guess.
