I've been wearing my first pair of raw denim for a bit over 4 months, no washes yet, and I'm enjoying fades and fit. I came here asking advice before I made the purchase and was told to start on the cheaper end. I bought a pair of UB201s. At $80 I think they were a good deal, but super long. A $25 hem job from Railcar got them to the perfect length IMO. I think I'm learning more what I want, but it begs the question though...what do the premium jeans offer? Higher quality fabric, more stylish cut, what?

Fades through 4 months...

If you're getting jeans hemmed you're probably doing it wrong

Hemmed jeans look TERRIBLE. Buy jeans that fit, first and foremost.

All brands have different cuts, it has to do with the quality of denim and indigo. The Japanese brands are the most highly sought after.

Make sure there's a u shape not a v shape so Drew Brees dick doesn't get pinched.

I sent them off to Railcar in California for a chain stitch hem, seems like a legit way to do it. They're still way long...I mean I posted a fricking picture. Double rolling a cuff looked like shite.

I will say I can't really tell they're hemmed in the photo, but whenever I've seen people use their local tailor they've been shitty. So I guess my opinion is a small sample.

I just don't understand why you would buy jeans that don't fit though or just return them for a pair that is the correct length

I guess that's my answer, expensive jeans come tailored. I can't pull of a 34.5 inseam, I know that now.

The chain stitch looks nice...their photo.

You're trying to hard.

It's just a pair of jeans.

Trying too hard at what? The question is what separates $80 raw denim jeans from $300 ones. I know my Unbrandeds aren't as good as say Stevensons, but having never owned a higher quality pair I don't really understand how they'll be different.

I'm sitting at a Ruby Tuesday next to my hotel drinking draft beer and eating chicken, hardly feels like I'm trying at all.

You sent a piece of clothing off across the country for a 'chain stitch'?

No one in your town has a needle that can get through a piece of denim? Or was this the avenue you saw on some trendy video from GQ or the frat boy channel or something?

You should find a procto in your area and see if he can remove your head from your arse.

I'm just curious why you thought anyone wanted to see a picture of you wearing blue jeans
