Speaking of snakes I need about a dozen rat snakes. I am too old to catch these myself. Anybody know any snake catching rednecks around South bama or Mississippi? Can I get a bag of snakes for 100 bucks or so ?

well in the op's defence, every copperhead you're likely to see is a much darker shade of brown than that, but it's because it's just molted. It almost looks yellow

1. GDCK snake

2. That is a pissed off copperhead. DO NOT TRY TO PICK IT UP or HANDLE IT WITH A STICK!

It is in a strike position with its head up. If it wasn't pissed, it was "on-guard."

Just get a stick with a fork in it, and push it on it's body and slide it up to it's head. Once you have the stick where the body and head meet hold it there and grab the snake at that point. You've made it to where it can't bite you.

Another way, is the old croc hunter way, but it's dangerous as hell. Pick it up by it's tail and hold it at arm's length and flick it's body every time it moves towards you.

I bought my mom one of these to help her around the house since she is getting older.

Turns out it makes a pretty decent snake picker upper if you grab it about 12-18 inches behind its head.

Pretty rare to come across a venomous snake in LA. So that's cool

You simply don't know what you are talking about. Louisiana is full of poisonous snakes.
