Thanks Darwin.
Many "bugs" will emerge from their pupae form full- grown - meaning they will not get bigger as they live and eat. Think of a butterfly - they will never get any bigger than they are when they bust out of their cocoon.
Oh and you are welcome!!

Ever notice what looks like drops of water falling from crepe myrtles during blazing hot summer days?
Yeah, those are these exact bugs pissing on you. No joke.

You are wrong. That would be an aphid which this not.

Sorry, I've done some lengthy minutes-long research on this phenomenon in the backyard. It's definitely sharpshooters pissing. No signs of aphids, don't worry that was my first group of suspects.

Technically a butterfly is fully grown before as a caterpillar

That's my point basically - a poster was giving me a little shite because I stated that horseflies grow as they eat - and he/she thought this was obvious, all things grow as they eat - which you and I know is not the case. I am not an entomologist by any stretch, but I do know horseflies...

Felt something in my hair today and flicked one out. Googled my description of it and couldn't figure it out. Had a white dot on both wings.
