One of my all time favorites. The guy who played Cru wrote a book about it, pretty cool.

PK Ripper with Landing Gear. White skyways

Had a quarter pipe made with angle iron and “liberated” wheels from a shopping cart on the back so we could flip it over and haul it around when the cops came.

I had a Diamond Back Strike Zone that I bought from washing dishes at a Chinese restaurant. Later I bought a Mongoose Decade from being a bus boy.

I loved the BMX store on Jones Creek. Growing up in that area was awesome.

GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team Model (basically a tricked out Pro Performer). ACS wheels and hubs. Dyno bars and seat post. Odyssey gyro. GT tires, grips, and seat. I used Skyway Mags from time to time. I liked the mags better when riding vert. Dia Compe front brakes and Odyssey rear brakes.

Was on a freestyle team back in the mid to late 80’s and up to about ‘91. Every weekend was spent doing shows and riding. Every single afternoon was spent practicing. Everything revolved around freestyle for about 8 years. Riding was Life. I miss it so much.

My hero’s back then were Hoffman, Eddie Fiola, Josh White, Mile Dominguez, Martin Aparijo, Dennis McCoy,...

Have any video?...that's the era I rode.

My neighborhood bike was a VFR.

I also raced in the ABA with a PK Ripper that I paid more for at 13 than my first car at 16. Passed it on to my little brother a few years later and he won Nationals a couple of times. 18 years later he still has it and rides regularly.

The best part was fully loaded, it weighed about 20lbs. Super light.

Found this picture in the bmx museum. Aside from the fact my bike is now in a museum, I sold it to the kid across the street when I got older. His mom ran over it the very next day. Thanks lady.

At around the age 6 during the late 70's I had a 3 speed chopper bike that was painted in a psychedelic 1960's paint job. My dad got it at a swap meet and was too cheap to ever buy me an actual bike. It was so embarrassing tagging along with my friends with their Mongooses and Diamond Backs. By the time I got into junior high I was so ashamed I stopped riding it and just concentrated on sports.
