My siblings and I grew up eating Cream of Wheat and Quaker Oats. Add a little butter, a teaspoon or two of sugar and a splash of milk.

This reminds me of a Bulgarian dude that worked on my oil rig that vehemently refused to eat grits because it was “pig food” in Bulgaria. Grits is what their pigs ate and he couldn’t believe we Americans ate grits and loved them. There were people that pulled together cash to try to get him to eat grits and no amount of money would convince him to eat them. That was bizarre to me.
