If your mother in law doesn’t frick it up.

It should be you, your wife, and baby.

Congrats. Don't let him grow up to be a UT fan. Nothing but heartbreak.

J/K. Congrats.

When you change his diaper, keep a baby wipe in your right hand. Undo the diaper with your left, then cover him with the baby wipe while you remove the diaper.

When you hold a newborn, keep its ear over your heart. He's been listening to your wife's heartbeat for nine months, so the sound will be comforting.

Go to the bank and get some cash. When the MIL starts her crap, give her a little cash send her on an errand. Have her go pick up things and give her a sense of purpose.

Congrats on the new little one.

Congrats OP! I remember the the first 24 hrs being exactly how you described. But it sounds like you have your head on straight. Don't worry in 6 months you'll be a pro.

Is the MIL thinking she is helping, or just being a picky grandmother?

Gotta set some boundaries for that mother-in-law, or you'll be sorry.

Sounds like you got this. Watch that your wife is not pushing herself too hard to try to prove she doesn't need her mom to take over. Postpartum is terrible and superwomen get it too.

Not sure. She loves criticizing my wife. Its never a big blowup, just snide comments. Jabs if you will. My wife never lets anyone bother her except her mother. I never really thought it was that bad until today. She keeps
my wife on her toes.

It really is the best experience there is. It's pretty surreal. Congrats.

And don't worry about feeling like not knowing shite. That's normal

Post Partum Depression coming soon, buckle up, there will be nothing you can do to help, but you will be the cause of everything that’s ever been bad.

That will continue as long as you live. When they start driving/going out, you wake up worried if they made it home ok. They get married, you worry about them being happy and financially secure, etc.

What they add to your life will be more than worth it but you will always worry about their well-being.

Tell MIL that it’s your show and she’s fired. Send her packing.

You need to set boundaries with your mother in law now. Otherwise she will ruin your family. Your wife needs to be part of this discussion as well. Controlling mother in laws need boundaries that are enforced by BOTH Husband and WIFE.
