What I’ve learned from being a dad for ten hours.

Well, this morning my wife gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. This is what I have learned so far.
1. Wow, my wife is one tough cookie. I knew she was strong but I had no idea she was this strong. Not only because of the birth, but just dealing with the exhaustion with such poise. Im wiped but she is still going strong.
2. My mother-in-law is more of a pain in the arse than I thought. She is already trying to take control. Her true self came out today.
3. I’m not gonna be able to sleep well for a long time. Im checking him every minute looking for whatever danger I have in my head.
4. I dont know a damn thing about babies. I thought I did but im asking questions like I am taking a class three levels above me. I really feel stupid.
5. Having a child is the most unique experience I have ever had. Part excitement, exhaustion, fear, joy, pride, and anxiety. But I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything in the whole world.

Congratulations baw. You just kind of figure it out as you go. They don't come with an instruction manual. Just love the child and be involved in their life and everything will work out

Don't ask for advice here. Most of the OT doesn't even know the first thing about making babies, much less raising them.

Then you should be getting more sleep than you think, she’ll be awake a bunch though

Congrats, that's awesome. But WTTW... learn to let the MIL help all she wants for a little while. You'll be begging for a break. Take advantage.
