There have been around a 100 studies that have all concluded that there is no link to vaccines and autism. Do all of these just so happen to be wrong? And sorry for your loss, but just because your kid was vaccinated doesnt protect them against all of the things we encounter daily. However, it does give kids the best chance to not end up in an iron lung, etc.

Im about to finish medical school, and I see these types of responses a lot. Something bad happens to someone and they have to have some type of explanation to why it happened because "bad luck" just isnt going to satisfy them.

Thank you for the degree of civility. I am not anti-vax. My sole purpose was simply to demonstrate that that lack of understanding and the ability to discuss the matter without emotionalism and misinformation keeps the chasm wide between the camps.

My father had polio as a child. Had to spend time in a wheelchair and relearn how to walk. This happened before the vaccine was available. He was permanently disfigured from it and has health issues to this day because of it. So I know about the dangers of these diseases that modern medicine can prevent.

frick anyone that is against vaccines. Their stupidity will kill children. So again...,frick them.

People will vaccinate their dogs but not their children.

It was not my intention to debate the merits nor risks associated with vaccinations, including the history thereof, as I believe the societal benefits of vaccinations to be immense. Nor was my intention to present based upon emotionalism, but rather based upon direct experience and knowledge. But yes, I could write both authoritatively and extensively on the points posed.

My intent was simply to impart the concept that risk has, in fact, existed with regard to vaccinations, and further, while I recognize that many parents choose not to vaccinate based upon hearsay, debunked myths, etc., my situation, although clearly falling within a very small statistical percentage, is not devoid of merit and, therefore, the attacks denoted previously can represent an egregious affront to any person that falls within that statistical minority.

Bad luck...perhaps, but I do not view it that way. I view each day optimistically and that each event in our lives serves a purpose. My best to all.

Bunch of weak minded frickin' millennial hippies who let fake internet bullshite play Russian roulette with their kids' lives.

You can bet almost all anti-vaxxers were vaccinated as children by their normal parents.

I'm fine with almost all vaccines expect the mRNA vaccines. I have a serious problem with a so called vaccine that is host dependent on antigen production. I also have a problem with vaccines that are unnecessary.

Admittedly COVID is going to completely destroy any reasonable discussion on this now.

And somewhat understandably. I was pro-vax before, got the COVID vax, am glad I got the vax, and am nonetheless pretty adamantly opposed to many of the arguments/pushes I see to vaccinate children (re: COVID).

I suspect that's a really common position now and that those sort of caveats will make it increasingly difficult to discuss vaccines/anti-vaxxers going forward.

The fun twist to this thread is it focused on small children, and I don't believe every strong covid vax proponent is as forceful about giving it to a 2 or 5 year old as you would expect them to be about the usual child vaccines.

You have to make a case for each vaccine.

All vaccines are not necessarily appropriate and some are depending on the patient.

Which one is really to blame. Let’s be honest here.
