My Dad And I had a very rocky relationship when I was a teen but it has gotten much better and now we can just hang out and talk about anything.

Not bad considering we hardly have anything in common.

We haven't exchanged blows in nearly three years, I'd say we're doing pretty good.

i dont talk to him by choice. He is a jerk, the only people in the family that talk to him are my sister and his. Everyone else has given up on him.

Better than when I was younger, but on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being best friends, he's like a 5'ish.

He probably hasn't changed and you were just a shitty kid.

I'm lucky that I have an excellent relationship with both my dad and father-in-law. Both are kick-arse men.

I've hated him ever since he fricked my mom.

I'm white, so take a guess.

Great until he married my mom's best friend after their divorce and her death. He doesn't understand why that is weird.

relationship?? You know what I got for Christmas this year? It was a banner frickin' year at the old Kook family home. I got a carton of cigarettes. The old man grabbed me and said "Hey. Smoke up Johnny."

The first seventeen were rocky as hell, the last seventeen were great.
He's been gone six years as of last night and in those six years there hasn't been a day go by that I don't wish I could ask his advice, shoot the shite with him, etc.

Great. Meet him for happy hour with all his old friends once a week. We buy each other cigars and good whiskey for birthdays and Christmas, and go to a few games a year. Girls and guys both tell me often how they wish they had our relationship/friendship.
