FTR, the inside dog is a Frenchie, not some big nasty large breed. Those live outside.
My inside dog is a 75 lb goldendoodle and he sleeps in our california king bed in between with his head on the middle pillow. That's his pillow
That's my guy. He does everything I do. Runs errands, goes to outdoor patio bars, exercises, etc. I try to do everything I can with him and because of that he is incredibly socialized and chill.

Its totally acceptable to do. They are going to sleep most of the day anyway and they like their kennels.

Don't agree with leaving a dog in a cage all day or overnight for that matter. We have a doggie door to the yard and the come and go as they please.

yeah saw the pic you posted in another thread yesterday. Pretty dog. My FBD is well socialized and pretty much rolls with the flow. Just a joy to have as a companion.

Thats just from google images, but they look like twins. Same white spot on chest, same colors and hair, etc. I thought it was him when I first saw it
But yeah, he's quite literally my best friend.

We have a doggie door and a big back yard with a secure fence, so our Chiweenie roams the house/yard all day. Then sleeps in our bed
I'm not a fan of leaving a dog in a cage 8 hrs a day, playing with it 3 hrs then putting it back in the cage to sleep.

Thoughts?
Against it.
Leave them in the backyard where they can run around.
Can't wait to see all the defenders though.

It's a fact that dogs, once settled in, are much more comfortable in a den sized kennel. Dogs that roam outside all day are the same ones who tear up the yard.

dogs are denning animals. my lab created a nice den under my bateau, where he would lay much of the day. but they can get up and leave the den. If you leave the door to the crate open, I have no problem with it.

The owners should be caged

I used to leave mine, as a puppy, in her kennel all day while at work so she didn't tear shite up. now I just leave her out and her kennel door open. She still sleeps in her kennel all day long while I'm gone. Everyday when I get home, she is in her kennel. she loves it, its her little house
Same here. He gets his blanket and covers himself up completely. I'm surprised he does figure out a way to hang a "do not disturb" somewhere.

That is definitely not a fact. Dogs like what they're used to.
If you put my dog in a kennel he'd freak the frick out. Hasn't seen one in 3 years.
Like you said earlier, all breeds are different as well.
ETA:
And as far as tearing up the yard, some breeds do that, some don't, some dogs have the temperament to do that, some don't. If I put my dog in the yard all day he'd chase some shite, maybe piss on everything he could, then wait by the back door to come inside for hours just staring. He has had 100% freedom since he was about 1 and other than eating the occasional leftover out the sink, doesn't do anything destructive.

Dogs like crates. It's fine.
Better than outside dogs who never see their owners.

I used to leave mine out but he developed a habit of getting into trash cans all over the house. I finally got tired of it and started the crate again. Although now that we moved I keep the crate in the study and just close the door.

It's my opinion that dog's actually like to stay in a kennel. They feel safe inside. My son has a lab and it voluntarily stays inside for long stretches (with the door open). That said, I think there's a limit to everything. I think 7-5 is a bit much for being locked up. Sometimes, I'll leave my lab roaming the house for the same time period. Maybe one "accident" per year.

Again, that is a very inaccurate generalization. Some breeds and some temperaments might like it, others not so much.
Dogs are all so different.
