Ok, well a chihuaha isn't a dog and is so small it can probably run laps in a crate

I was talking big dogs

If he doesn't shed that's not bad, but most do shed and smell like shite. And no, he's not allowed on my bed

I used to leave mine, as a puppy, in her kennel all day while at work so she didn't tear shite up. now I just leave her out and her kennel door open.
This, and when I pull up after work she is looking out the window, waiting for me and the kids
Or probably saying I wish this fricker would hurry up so I can eat

Dude it's a dog, they lived outside for years before AC, they can handle it trust me.

Maybe yours, but if I left my guy outside in the summer, even in the shade, he'd be absolutely miserable.

Looks like this:

I have had labs, goldens, and now a golden doodle and none of them smelled "like shite"

I have two labs and they stay in my room while I'm gone. Lay on a a piece of carpet and are just fine. They can look outside the window walk around and never get on my bed. I did notice one time that my google history had petco and pet smart on there. Neither would fess.

You're telling me a house with hair all over the furniture doesn't smell bad? May not smell like shite but smells like dog. I don't want my house to smell like a dog, especially when I have a 1/4 acre back for him to do whatever he wants.

I would like to add that I really don't care what others do with their dogs as long as they are loved and treated humanely.

This is a "to each their own" thing.

My dog legit stares at my back door for what seems like hours. Better yet, he stares at the door knob and ANY movement he's all over it.

My dog lays upside down on the couch with all 4 legs sticking in the air while simultaneously monitoring the front window and listening to Animal Planet.

He has a rough life

I really don't either. Every dog and breed is so different that it's really a case by case deal as far as how you treat them.

I leave my two in the house and they use the doggy door. The house is designated as an open range.

I have no issue with it. If trained correctly, most dogs love it anyway.

I don't personally do it, but that's only because she wasn't trained for it when she was younger. She used to be put into a tiled room (bathroom or whatever), but I stopped that after the first year. She roams the house. Hasn't been an issue yet.

We have an ottoman with blankies specifically for the pets. It is placed in front of the window where they can watch everything outside. It is normal to come home and find both my dog and cat on it asleep.
