I'd pick the space shuttle over the Apollo rockets.

A reusable vehicle that is launched by rocket and returns to earth with no powerplant.

Always amazed me.

the soviets received inmense help from America during the war, including planes, tanks, food, clothing, ammo, intelligence, money, transports, just about everything. The Germans had help from nobody, including the lousy italians and japanese.

Damn straight!

You put something cold in it, it stays cold.

You put something hot in it, it stays hot.

True the Russians got a lot of already-built materiel from the US, but their domestic aircraft and tank development and manufacturing industries were pretty much organic.

The T-34 production alone was astounding considering the constraints.

The Germans had fully mature world-leading technical industries. They were world leaders in Chemistry and Physics and the applied uses of this such as metallurgy and machinery R&D. There was no comparing Soviet technical expertise prewar with the Germans. The Soviets narrowed the gap over the war and then impressed German scientists and technology after the Allied victory to further jumpstart their arms industry.

I first saw it on the 80's TV show That's Incredible.

Now, of course, it's included in the Ancient Alien series.

The Superdome. A structure like that built in the south Louisiana soil that is so iconic has to be named. Plus unlike some stadiums every seat has a great view.

Not true. Some seats in the dome can't see all of the end zone.

The Pont du Gard is amazing. Stones cut off-site I believe and fitted together without mortar. I question whether we could do any better today with machines.

Well now, who says you have to do it in public? The one I have only cost me about $500.

So tell me, was it you or Pawl Allen that downvoted me? Eh?

major jordan was a liason during the lend lease act supposedly to help russia , but it also left our guys starving for material, diverted to russia!!!

This. Is. The future, this is like the apex of the vortex of joint engineering. It's rumored that M. M. O'Shaughnessy designed the first one - the guy who, uh, designed the Golden Gate Bridge. My second favorite civil engineer behind Hannskarl Bandel: Madison Square Garden... What you do is you light all three ends at the same time...

and that's likely how yoga girl got the notion of aliens building the pyramids

ancient aliens omits more stuff than it lets out, it's a well done propaganda outlet

for those who want to believe, and don't look too close...

There are plenty of good choices, some already mentioned, so I'll just drop this one here - the Millau Viaduct. 1100 feet above ground at the highest point and the world's tallest bridge.

Leave it to the French to spend € 394M on a pedestrian bridge.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel
Went over it about 20 years ago. I still remember looking ahead while on the bridge and seeing a big ocean vessel going towards the bridge thinking he was about to plow through the bridge, exactly like the lecture below. Then you go into a tunnel in the middle of the bay and pop out still surrounded by water.

Also remember the toll being like $15!

Had to be a feat to build that and keep the water out.
