My understanding is the boys schools though still requiring masks are really lax about it and really aren’t pushing the vaccines outside of LHSAA making it a pain as it pertains to sports. Though I did hear that the OP schools are requiring vaccination proof or negative test to watch indoor sporting events.
That’s so insane. across most of the country you’d never know there ever was a pandemic except for a few dedicated folks choosing to still wear masks.

Crime is still a concern in JP but at least it doesn’t go unpunished
This is the key right here. Crime is up everywhere but if you know the officials are doing their best with it you have some hope and will put up with a surge. NO is a different animal because not only are officials not doing anything to stop it, in many ways they are actively encouraging it. THAT’S when smart people lose hope, give up, and leave. Honestly I think the only way out is for the city to hit absolute rock bottom. Bad enough that even the normally brainwashed voters say enough is enough and elect people who will clean house. That’s the only way out. I have serious doubts if that is possible though. Maybe it takes a bunch of shootings at multiple parades. Some massive catalyst that wakes people up. What is amazing is that so many are willing to go out and protest and get riled up over something that happens 1000 miles away but don’t say a damn word when their own neighborhood turns into the Wild West.

Heck even the Wild West was better in one way than NO - people were allowed to defend themselves and their property without fear of being treated worse than a criminal.

I’m curious to see the size of the crowds at the Metry parades this weekend. In 2020, Metry parades were an afterthought. Bc of the crime issues, will people choose Metry instead bc of the “easiness” of actually attending the parade? Metry parades now start in a heavily residential area so people with kids can easily see the parade at an early time without traveling too far and having an easy time finding neighborhood parking. Let’s be honest, even die hard MG people have to admit that getting to/from St. Charles to watch a parade is very time consuming. You can get to the Metry parades in a fraction of the time.
Look there’s a ton of things to hate on orleans and prop up JP for. Parades are not one of them.
Metry parades will never be better, more attended etc etc than orleans. Virtually no one is skipping Orleans parades to go to metry parades.
You come off as delusional when saying things like even nola diehards think OP parades are a pain in the arse so maybe they will start going to Metairie parades.

I’m talking about people who live in Metairie traveling to NO to go to a parade. I am not talking about the diehards either. I’m talking about the average Metairie person that takes their kids to MG parades bc it’s something fun to do.
I don’t expect people coming from NO to see a Metairie parade (Well maybe LV people). Honestly I think the bigger answer will be more locals will just skip MG and go out of town like a large number already does.

They will still travel to orleans parish. If not they will probably leave town.
Metairie parades are trashy as frick

If the other ones were good more people would skip the NO parades for them

Don't know about the others but Jesuit follows the mask mandate and is not lax about it. They wear the masks all day. As soon as the mandate is dropped, then they won't wear them. Jesuit is not requiring vaccinations for students or to attend sporting events. The only schools that mandate vaccinations to attend sporting events, both inside and outside, are Franklin and Lusher.

Thanks. I had a Jesuit parent tell me something about a vaccine/test requirement to see their kid wrestle. Maybe I misheard.
Just so I’m clear if you go to watch Jesuit (or any Nola Private School) play basketball at their gym in OP then you don’t need to show any proof of vaccination/negative test, correct?

No not at all, and that’s my point. Rummel trash sure is proud of being Rummel trash. I prefer to celebrate much higher degrees than a high school one, lol.

Dude the only one bashing schools is you. I have not given any sort of high praise to Rummel or Chappelle other than I believe they give their students a decent education. People in Nola Metro are passionate about where they went to school but most don’t feel the need to bash the other except in a joking manner.
This is nothing about the quality of schools in OP. Jesuit is a great school. BM is a great school. MCA and Dominican are also great schools. Problem is that they are located in a place that has serious leadership issues and crime issues. Many people have acknowledged that and it seems reasonable to me that the admins of those schools should be concerned about OP’s path.
Back on topic, the next couple of weeks will give us a good gauge on how the OP leaders and NOPD can handle things. We will see.

Generally true, but Krewe of Athena is only a couple years old and is a pretty damn good parade. Last year was the debut of Mad Hatters which was also pretty damn good.
A Metairie revival is not out of the question. The reason Metairie parades were so big in the 80s and early 90s was that crime and governance in New Orleans was so bad. See anything familiar?
