They say that when the Berlin Wall came down, thousands of old German men put on their sweaters and complained of a draft.

My mom has heart problems and keeps her house grilling, it will be 75 outside and she has the fake gas fireplace blasting and the heater on 85.

And complaining about freezing

fricks my sinuses up every time I stay with her

We had the same heater growing up in the 80’s. I remember how good it felt to stand next to it on a chilly morning.

Y’all haven’t lived until you’ve warmed up clothes on the floor vents of a trailer

My great grandfather, who died before I was born, would build a roaring pine knot fire in the fireplace first thing in the morning every day of the year.

Let me guess.....they died from a house/chimney fire.

He’d laugh at that and say he never expected to be approaching 90.

By the time my father was in his mid-60s, he became a completely different person with how he dealt with the cold. He said it physically hurt him. He put in-wall heaters in the bathrooms, and would stay in bed under an electric blanket long after his normal time to get up when I was a kid.

It's part of growing old. It'll happen to you one day as well.

I had a stroke about a year ago and it completely changed my perception of hot and cold. I used to be constantly hot and now I am cold much more frequently. I still like to sleep cold, but I get cold much more easily during the daytime. I am on blood thinners now, so I think that is probably the cause.

One of out clients was taking a shower and could only feel the hot water on one side of his body. He mentioned it to a doctor friend who told him to get his arse to the ER, he was having a stroke.

The ol' Thermador bathroom wall heater.

Grandparents also had those full-length wall heaters that one side was in the hallway and the other half in a bedroom or living room.

See your future, be your future. You will get old and be like that, so just enjoy your time visiting him and appreciate it.

I walk around the house with a jacket and slippers because I hate being cold but I don’t like turning up the heat.

Then, there’s the issue of can’t seeing for shite and everyone wants to make a bunch of racket while you just want to watch a little tv.

Getting old sucks but the alternative is worse.
