Bama has a ton more full time recruiters nationally in big citys than most other schools. They're on point. The Texas connection for LSU is going strong but they need more than just that.

Senior class this year at EHS has two to Ole Miss, zero to Alabama. But when kids from these schools leave Baton Rouge, it's because they don't feel like being in BR anymore, and they can afford to leave.

I'm glad BR doesn't actually suck as much as people let on. That would suck.

Unless things have changed since 2011 when my sister was getting out of HS, LSU has a pretty pathetic OOS recruiting presence.
It's gotten better but still sucks.

I used to hate living in Birmingham till I moved away. Wasn't so bad after that.

I'll be the first to admit BR has its limitations, but people act like it's fricking war-torn Haiti. Just silliness.

just to name a few...
That's not a genre unique to Oxford. Blues is something found all along the delta and Mississippi River blacks. It's a reach.

I can't imagine LSU would ever have a goal of getting >50% of out of state enrollees. I'm not sure it should.

I agree. Honestly, Starkville is the only SEC city I would refuse to live in.
I could make a nice life just about anywhere. Just need the right neighborhood really.

Have you ever driven north of Florida Boulivard?
Or even north of campus on Highland Road? There are some striking similarities.
How about driven down I-110 towards the airport and the zoo?

I don't think it should either but a 70/30 breakdown would be better than the 85/15 it is now.

They dont have the chest to go to LSU.

College Station is pretty bad, as well.
Outside of those two, I can see redeeming qualities about all the others. I've never been to Lexington, Gainesville, or Columbia, Mo., though.

Id add College Station to that, but id say probably only those two.

And what major city does not have its bad part of town?

I was still enrolled when my sister was going through the process, both of our parents are grads, and my dad attended the law center.
She was never once direct contacted. She's now at UGA. That's inexcusable on the part of the school IMO not to reach out and give a little effort.
Having seen the recruiting of both Bama and LSU on HS campuses in TX, its not really a surprise that Bama has a much bigger OOS presence. LSU gives off the impression that it views OOS students as lagniappe, while Bama really makes a point of emphasizing them.

My brother lived in Bryan, commuted to CS. I visited him a few times and loved it.

It's away from home. That's why I chose LSU, to GTFO of Florida.
It's for this reason why I think it's crazy when people get upset if a team loses out on a 5-star in-state recruit. I mean, if I had a choice to go anywhere in the country, the LAST place I'd look to go is the one too close to home.
