Truth hurts?

LSU takes anyone.

I know several people that couldn't get into LSU and went to Bama/Ole Miss/others. LSU improves it's standards every year.

Want to get away from Baton Rouge and aren't handcuffed by tuition prices?
I went to Episcopal and then Ole Miss FWIW. I loved every minute of it. Baton Rouge blows.

Dunham, U-High, or Episcopal who are going to Alabama
This and Ole Miss is puzzling. Vanderbilt I understand, but Bama and the Old Mrs. I don't quite understand. What's the draw? Is there some kind of cultural experience I should be aware of that's different from LSU? Is it the way Old Mrs. Kids hold their pinky out when drinking beer, or maybe the manner in which Roll Tide slides off the tongue after some beer and BBQ? I have to imagine this is much more about standing out and getting attention, because they know that's what will get everyone's attention due to Ole Miss and Bama being LSU's chief rivals, and how people here feel about them.

They couldn't get into McNeese, so this is the obvious second choice

While LSU does not take everyone it is still a 3.0 and a 22 ACT to get admitted.

Why is it puzzling? New experiences. I never wanted to go anywhere but LSU, but I fully understand wanting to get out.

Cause no way in hell most of them could get in those schools. Auburn, UGA, and UF are actuallY very hard to get into out of state(UGA,UF) or very expensive with little out of state scholarships available(AU). These kids want to go somewhere besides LSU to be trendy(not all of them, but most) but still get the SEC big school feel. This pretty much leaves most with two choices, Ole Miss or Bama. The 1st choice is UGA but most dont get in
This is a decent explanation.
Want a change from LSU, desire big social/greek life. Academically out of state students to UGA with average stats are slim to none. So Bama and Ole Miss are the choices remaining.

Out of state is a lot easier. I think I had a 2.8 coming out of HS and LSU took me. (So did Bama and Ole Miss)

Baton Rouge fricking blows.
Ole Miss is a fricking awesome college experience, as is Alabama.
Not saying LSU isn't fun, but I wanted a new scene and somewhere close enough I could drive home, but far enough my parents didn't visit a lot. I liked going somewhere completely new where I knew basically no one. Best decision I ever made was leaving Baton Rouge for college.
I got into LSU with TOPS so there goes that theory.
ETA:
My mom teaches at LSU and I grew up a couple miles from campus. That would blow for me and I went to the LSU bars in HS. It would've been 13th grade at LSU.

But why? I don't get it. Why Alabama, as opposed to Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Miss. St, etc.
Kinda what im wondering. Bama people will tell you how great of a school it is, but its no better than any of the other schools you mentioned. I get wanting to get away from home, but why specifically Tuscaloosa?

Good football, big state school, parties, safe, huge alumni base across the south, run the state...

Tuscaloosa is a shithole, but Bama is a pretty campus and tons of fun. I couldn't go there because I hate Alabama so much however.
Oxford, MS is incredible. Only ignorant people that have no real Oxford experience don't like it. Its fanfrickingtastic.
