This guy is an ardent foe of the President so he will take any tact that makes the President look bad. In this case to criticize the President for not recommending them earlier. The CDC could be considering it but there is zero way they have already made a decision that will come out in ten days and it has not been more widely leaked. CDC has been a sieve and there are other folks than McCarthy who would have already had this story.
The major problem is most people WILL not wear and utilize the masks properly and the outside of these masks can become more a temporary trap to catch the virus if the mask is not used properly. Ask healthcare folks who do long surgeries how hard it is to keep the mask properly on and not fiddle with it for an extended period.

It would be more dumbass to take them off when you get in your vehicle. The process is the problem for the general public. You need to wash your hands everytime before you put in on, after you put it on, before you take it off and after you take it off or the maskk may end up being a nice trap that holds the virus for you to touch later and then touch your face. As not many folks I know have a sink and soap in their car and hand sanitizer is not as effective this would be impossible when you get in your car.
