I got clipped for somewhere between 40-50k by a general contractor early in my career. I no longer do work for general contractors. They are all shady pos in my opinion.

First used vehicle I ever bought on my own. I was ignorant and naive and the salesman saw me coming from a mile away like a sheep to slaughter.
In retrospect, the life lessons learned have served me well over the past 30 years and more than balanced out the financial ramifications but I do cringe still when I think back at how dumb I must have looked.

Take a week long vacation. Check into the resort, they charge for the full week. Next day they’re bankrupt and kick me and the family out. Down about $3k

Broke, struggling to keep going. It was on a rock clause, no way to quantify how much I actually hammered out. A complete shitshow, and a good fricking for me. I learned the hard way, and now I don't do any biz with any gc anymore.
