Why do people drive cars? What's the appeal of getting in a wreck?

I've heard that drugs sell themselves.

I doubt the dealers have any pamphlets espousing the benefits of heroin or meth.

It's heroin not heroine. And your stereotypes are dumb and played out. Adderal is pretty much meth. And heroin can ruin people's lives but it's not like it's a guarantee. They aren't much different than alcohol and tobacco

Adderall is chemically related to Meth and they both do give you extra energy but they are Adderall is not "pretty much" meth. That is like saying a BB gun is pretty much a .50 cal, Meth is so much stronger that it is ridiculous to compare the two, meth is horrible shite. Also, comparing meth and heroin to tobacco is ridiculous. Sure abusing alcohol can be just as bad as heroin and meth, and tobacco can kill you long term, but tobacco isn't going to ruin your life like they will....and yes heroin WILL ruin a persons life.

Heroin is an opiate, so for a lot of people it starts with prescription pain killers. Start popping lortabs and work your way up until it gets too expensive or you can't find any, and you cave to just snorting a little heroin.

No shite! The only people who say they are the same are people that have never done both and are just repeating something they heard or read.

This^^^^^^

I've never heard of a dopeman using fancy marketing ploys or discount coupons to bring in the business, nor have I heard of one going out of business due to lack of clients.

I know a couple of heroin junkies and they all found their way to it because they were on pills first. It's really a shame, not only because they ruined their lives but also because they never have pills and every 6 weeks or so I want to take some painers and I haven't been able to find any in over a year!

In The Wire and other shows they always give fancy names to their heroin, give out "testers" when they get new product, and give discounts when you buy more so it seems like they do use "marketing ploys", discounts, samples and other shite to bring in business.

Good distinction. Women can be a much more destructive influence.

I am missing the upside?

People are going to get high. Some addicts love that empty feeling that opiates/benzos give them. Others like the amped feeling they get from stimulants.

Hardcore addicts don't think about next year, next week, tomorrow even, just focused on the next high. Over time, particulary heroin addicts, they develop a really dysfunctional love/hate relationship with junk - they hate it because of the control it has over them, yet think of nothing else - everything they do is focused on getting the resources to get to the next high.

The flip side is that - once addicted, it's a tough choice - either get high or feel sick. Most addicts, without significant help AND hitting rock bottom, are going to pick the former - every single time. Hell, I would. That's why I never touched the stuff. None of it - weed, alcohol, none of it because of the addicts in my family.

Most people start using these drugs in particular (heroin and meth) because they're poor and it is cheap recreation - at least at first. Once they're hooked, they don't need any more sales pitch.

Being 15 months clean from drugs (heroin included) and alcohol, i can tell you from experience that no one WANTS to do heroin. I dont know anyone who out of the blue just chose to go straight and get addicted to dope. The first time i did it i was sick from not having pain pills, and refused to do it for hours because i knew what it would lead to. But the pain of being dope sick won out and i was off and running.

Dealers don't need salesman, the orders come in no matter what.
I had a short bout with the meth about 8 years ago. I never smoked or injected, just snort . The cost is right on with coke and you don't get that chase feeling. You screw your old lady all night , the sex is awesome when your on it

Was it enjoyable sometimes? Absolutely, the buzz is ridiculous. But we really dont have the choice that people claim we do.
