Oxfords not brogues is the only answer

I have a pair of wholecuts that I never wear. They just seem a bit too much. I thought I'd like them more.
Cap toe is the safest choice.

Agree that whole cut is a surprisingly non-flexible shoe.
Cap toe is great with a suit, but can also pair with slacks/golf shirt and even a casual jean without looking out of place.

Agree. Cap toe with some slight brogue is a good all arounder, although depending on style a plain captoe is just as versatile. See Park Ave vs. 5th Ave.

The more broguing a shoe has, the less formal it is. Here’s the list of shoes from most formal to least formal: plain toe, plain toe with medallions, cap toe, cap toe with quarter brogue, cap toe with half brogues, wingtips, long wings.

In general, the more ornate the shoe, the less formal it is.
Captoes are less formal than shoes without caps.
Decorative perforations on captoe shoes are less formal than plain caps.
Broguing is less formal than caps.
Etc.
EDIT: Yeah, what that picture up there says.

Thanks again everyone.
My problem is I just do not like plain cap toe shoes for my wardrobe.

I had a long wing Brogue pair that I bought at Pokorney's on St. Charles when I was in High school. After they got worn I would wear them with my jeans ALL THE TIME. Chicks loved them.

I'm partial to whole cut, but do own cap. Don't care for brogue.

What's your desired use?

Mainly looking for another brown pair that I can add to the collection that would be suitable for suits during the fall and winter.
