It's always helpful, before engaging in a debate, to Define terms. So, before I attempt to answer your question, OP, please tell us how you would Define assault rifle and why

The second amendment has nothing to do with hunting or personal protection.

I feel he might be alluding to the amount of ammo at his disposal in said weapon.

It seems the most radical opinions on firearms come from people who have no knowledge of firearms.

For military use. Good thing pretty much only the military uses them.

Civilian semi-autos such as the AR-15 are basically crippled versions of what the military has.

I've had an SKS before and appreciated the fact that it was really easy to clean and maintain but for personal protection in the home a shotgun is better.

For what most gun-owners do there are more effective (and usually less expensive) choices though, in all honesty for most it's just a form of bling.

Advantage of firepower vs handgun or shotgun.

Like 5 men.

No need/demand for accuracy.

Shooting people and threatening to shoot people are the main points.

Defending my home and family vs people with handguns.

Thanks for a simple answer. I go feed the dog and come back to 2 pages in this short time. Such a simple question sure upsets a lot of people.

Oh, and it's very apparent that most folks know to what I referred. A generally compact rifle with high capacity magazine that is semi automatic and some of which are automatic or easily altered to be auto and capable of burst firing. No need for you other guys to stroke out. It's a simple question.

To relax or get wasted?

Oh, and the purpose of an automobile that can go over 75 is to go somewhere fast.
