Just got quoted $313.31 per pallet for 13 pallets of St. Augustine delivered and installed.

That seems high to me but I have never had St. Augustine installed before.

13 pallets is just the front yard.

I am also in a time crunch to get it done.

Know where I can get some folks who can get rid of gravel?

Person who owned the home before me graveled the yard. I took a ton out to make myself a front parking spot but still a ton left. Problem is I can't use a Bobcat because its all within a white picket fence.

I've resigned myself to just pay to have it all done. Maybe I can tell them to bring the sod, remove the gravel, and I'll handle putting the sod down.

Been a few years since I've been in the business, but I remember St. Aug being $130ish delivered, retail. That was without installation. I'd double that number, if not a a little more for installation.

Think I paid ~$800 for 1.5 pallets of empire zoysia, which included labor for installation. I want to say grass alone was $600-650 range.

this. about $150/pallet mol for grass, double for installation. and no it's not easy to do it right. it would take you an entire day to do.

Well then pay.

Personally I've always set aside a weekend day and just worked my butt off for a few hours laying it down evenly, then setting up several sprinklers to run for a few hours.

Its a great workout.

ETA:

Also would buy large bags of the same seed and seed on top of it before watering.

That's really, really high... even for zoysia. I installed 94 pallets of Zoysia in the fall. $227/pallet.

With installation of a larger area like you have (13 pallets), you'll also want to consider the work of the prep. Sod need a good 2 inches of loam spread out.

You should be able to get a per pallet install price for $75 - $100.

That sounds right. It was 3-4 years ago, but I want to say I paid $450 for grass, and he delivered. Had to saw a ton of roots where I was putting it (Under an oak tree). Very labor intensive. I remember being very satisfied. He showed me an invoice from the nursery, so I know he paid market price for the sod. I was glad to pay him after watching his crew install it.
