Realistically probably the late 1800s. At that point you had the Industrial Revolution and people were starting to see "the next big thing." I think someone from that time could grasp the concepts of today as evolutions from that time to now. Obviously not overnight.

Have you ever watched your grandparents interact with the newest technology?
Yeah. Thought so. Remember that your grandparents LIVED through the development of that technology and they're a fricking trainwreck.
No way someone from the 1800s makes it. It's just too foreign for them to ever really get it. Remember Demolition Man? Stallone couldn't even work the goddamned TOILET.

If you're arguing socially adapt, I'd say late 80s at the most. If you're arguing survive, literally any time period with still living languages.

My great grandmother lived a long time. She was born in 1910. The way she talked about black people was halarious. I couldn't imagine dropping a black guy from Chicago in Jackson MS around 1840.
