I had a family member go the alternative medicine route with cancer treatment. They probably could have lived, but decided eating vegetables was going to save them

Worked with a guy who was on the verge of having his truck repossessed. Dude went to the casino (1st bad decision), won like $6k, then, on the way back home from the casino saw two jet skis for sale and bought them with his winnings rather than pay for his truck that he needed to tow said jet skis.
Now this might take the cake. I can't even understand how someone could justify doing this.

The decision that the Louisiana Army National Guard headquarters element would "ride out" Hurricane Katrina at Jackson Barracks (in the infamous Lower Ninth Ward for those of you unfamiliar with Jackson Barracks), instead of displacing to Carville, LA and lead relief/recovery efforts from the relative safety and dry ground that location offered.
I've dealt with stupid decisions over almost 31 years in the Army. That one takes the cake and it will take a lot to ever top it. By anybody.

Long story short... best friend was in a gang. Wanted to prove himself more to get in deeper I guess.
Wanted to invite a crew over to his house for what ever reason.
Another friend and I told him not to do it, these guys were more "about that life" than he was.
Found the next morning shot in the head execution style by his mom.
I never knew what went down, but really wished he had listened. Good dude, no father figure, just really wanted to get in.

To top it off, he was telling us about it at work and one of the other guys said "Man, that's gonna frick your credit up". To which he says "Man, my credit's been fricked up for 20 years"
You're forcing me to do this: where the frick do you work?

Saw a guy in Tunica up ~$80k in roulette after hitting on a number TWICE.
Then he put it all on black and lost it.

Learned a lot of "what not to do" from him, and I think made me better in assessing a situation prior. Ha.
That's the good thing about being the younger brother. You can learn from their mistakes.. But what you learn isn't always used for good. I learned from some of the stupid shite my brother did... How to not get caught doing certain shite, etc.

Know how a taser has those four prongs? And when you activate it the blue spark jumps between them?
Well... an idiot sitting at the table next to us in the area next to East Laville, figured that he could put his fingers on the outside two prongs and the sparks would just jump between the inner two.
He was wrong. So very very wrong. After he got up from the table we all noticed that he’d pissed himself.

I know a plant operator guy that dumped his 401k and life savings from property investments in to some LNG penny stocks. He lost almost everything 10 years before retirement age. Millions
