What is the difference between Walker and Watson? As far as everything...

Biggest difference: Watson is 20 minutes from the Interstate while Walker is right at it.

Watson is further in the middle of nowhere, Walker is right by the interstate.

They both like to play the “flood victim” card like their neighboring town, Denham Springs. And yea fat chicks.

Has growth stalled in Watson? I recall some years ago that they were the fastest growing city in Livingston.

Seems like Central is the one that has been consistent with growth of all the BR surrounding areas, and Zachary too.

I agree about Watson. The flood hurt Central but it's picking up again. Zachary was less impacted. I'm actually from Central. It was pretty rural in the 80's. We didn't even have a McDonald's

Watson/Live Oak is unincorporated and as such has no real zoning or ordinances, as well as no city (only Parish) utilities, law enforcement, etc.

Walker is a City, with a Council and Mayor who have great drainage ordinances, don’t just issue blanket variances to development, have been active in going after grant money to improve roads, build a one of a kind special needs ballfield at their sports complex, as well as getting federal funding for a Hurricane Safe Room to help pre position assets prior to disasters.

The police department is well run and very proactive. It has a low crime rate-similar to that of Watson-but a much more tangible law enforcement presence as Watson has no local police force and depends on LPSO.

Walker is more centrally located, has more grocery, shopping and restaurant options and the presence of an incorporated government makes it far superior IMO.

I have heard many folks complain about the Waste Management site there, but having lived here in the city limits of Walker since May of 2013, I’ve never dealt with it. I’m West of 447 if that makes a difference.

From an educational standpoint, Walker is in the midst of a $25 million dollar expansion of what was already a 5A enrollment Public high school.

On top of all this, Walker has the Literacy and Technology Center where AP courses and Votech and community offerings are taught in a cooperative agreement with SLU. Finally, Northshore Technical Community College will be building a new campus right next door to the Literacy and Technology Center set to offer classes in 2019.

Lastly Walker, also has Our Lady of the Lake’s newest location, which has some private doctors offices (BROC for one) already locating there with it. It is the state’s first stand alone Emergency Room and has a dedicated pediatric unit I believe.

None of the amentities mentioned in the last two paragraphs can can be found in Watson.
