I would think most people consider the physical breadth of space when they ponder the "universe," although it's probably on a scale that is very difficult or even impossible for our brains to comprehend.
Inside that universe, quantum entanglement, i.e. "spooky action at a distance" remains one of the most intriguing aspects of reality that has been proven to exist, IMO.
But I wouldn't consider that to be any more the actual reality than the physical universe itself.
