Both my kids went through Corban on Hoo Shoo Too. $175/wk equates to $700/mo. (Which I assumed was expensive)
I don’t have 1 bad thing to say about the place.

Daycare is child abuse. The wife should stay home with the children. How anybody, especially a mother can drop an 8-12 week baby off with a stranger all day so they can go to some unfulfilling, crap job that they constantly bitch about is beyond me.

Houston suburbs is running 900/month.

I get that sweet 85/month discount when my second starts in 6 weeks.

My daycare is more than my mortgage minus escrow

It's $520/month full time here in Breaux Bridge at two different locations.

About a grand a month. Give or take a little

Yep. $220 to $270 a month depending on quality.

Most of the better ones are associated with a church or school.

$270/week for pre k prep(4 year olds)

That’s $270 week no matter what; literally ach suck it out bank draft regardless of 4 days off due to fricking bomb threat by students, “snow/inclement” weather days, superintendent caught fricking married high school teacher days, whatever

I don't have any kids but this lady was offering her services as an in home sitter. Not sure what her rates were but I vividly remember her stating that you will still pay if your child doesn't attend due to sickness or if she closes due to weather. I would think that's fair since it's out of her control but the one I didn't agree with was, "You will also pay when I am out during my week long vacation".

So you want parents to pay you while you're on vacation not watching their kids and have to find another sitter for that week? Not happening.

Tell your daughter to be an adult and take care of her own kid…

Quit her job, and make things work.

Not really a reality anymore in america but you just described how families functioned for the vast majority of human history. Grandparents who couldn't be in the fields took care of kids while the younger people worked. Can still find this modeled out in some societies in the world.

i am willing to bet it was the grandmother idea, she wants to retire anyway and the baby will be in daycare in less than 6 months of the grandmother daycare

seen this circle with several friends with their first born. Grandmother or Gigi or whatever stupid name they want to be called so they don't feel old is all about helping until she realizes it's truly 40 hour a 40-hour-a-week job M-F

eventually it becomes too much of a pain for the mother and grandmother because of doctors appointments or the grandmother wants to grab coffee with friends and the mom can't take off work.
