A fluffy little mutt like a Cockapoo or Chorkie.

I had a Border Collie who was amazing with kids. She would be used to work with kids who had suffered from dog attacks. She loved kids and was 100 percent bullet proof with them.
When she passed, the vet assistant's three year old came out and gave the dog a big hug. She hadn't moved all day, but she gave the boy a big dog kiss.

100% this, but with Labs, they can be too friendly. They will often get right up into the face of small kids just to get attention and that tail can cause all kind of collateral damage.

Wonderful dogs. Had a friend who has a DS daughter. She and her husband got an Aussie to keep their daughter safe in the backyard.
Aussies are herders. They are great with kids, but are known to nip to keep those they "herd" in line.
So true, they want to collect things. We taught our's not to nip the kids -- or round them up and put them on the trampoline. You have to train your Aussie, but they are very smart and eager learners and make great companions.

My barber here in KC has an Aussiedoodle…sweetest dog. They are supposedly great with kids.

Boston terrier hands down

We have a springer spaniel. It is incredible with the kids. One piece of advice for springers specifically is that the males are much friendlier than the females. They’re plenty friendly to humans but the females tend to be b*****es to other dogs. The males get along with everyone.

australian shepherd would be a good pick and not a bitch dog like a golden doodle
while a great family dog, they will try to herd younger kids.

Getting my kid a golden doodle for Christmas. But in general, I think any non-shedding dog is the way to go.
People are always shocked when goldendoodles are terrible with kids. You’re NOT getting a golden retriever, there’s a huge difference
And wth does shedding have to do with whether or not they’re good with kids? Stop letting your wives pick out the dogs people

Just a big lovable mutt that doesn’t have any pit in it. One of those big goofy dogs from the shelter that’s just so damn appreciative it doesn’t care if kids jump all over it.

a Lab is always the #1 answer to this question
make ur pick, black, chocolate, golden, etc

but they shed like crazy.
Forget the kids. This is my #1 question for every dog I get in the future. Love my German Shepherd but Jesus fricking Christ.

Female labradoodle…they don’t shed, are incredibly smart and ours doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. Been around the kids since day one and has never even growled.
Now…she’s not much of a guard dog though.

I agree. Go get a good rescue mutt from a shelter. Best dogs you will ever have.
