My aussie is awesome with young kids. He’s so patient and just lets them pet him and chase him. The only problem is if he gets excited about something else and accidentally knocks a kid down while trying to run past them in a crowded space.

The labs in my family have been great around the carpet creatures. They usually demand as much attention as said creatures, from what I've seen. Great dogs, though. Very loyal.

If the kids aren't too small, Weimaraners are an amazing breed. Lots of energy to keep the kids entertained. Loving, devoted, highly intelligent. They can get a little rambunctious and accidentally knock over a toddler. They love to cuddle and will want to sleep with the kids. They're 90 pound lap dogs.

I believe goldens and labs actually bite more than pit bulls. Just don’t end in death. It’s astronomically higher in pits.

Shedding is the trade off for not eating your kid's face.

I don't think Weimeraners shed as badly...at least the hair is short. All of the same traits of being loving, tolerant, protective, etc. They can be very clingy. The kid may never be alone, anywhere in the house.

Yes and one was rescued from a shelter. For a bout three years, he is living with a family of three. He wasn't involved with any fighting rings but lived in a cage for his whole life. This family loves him.

I have a mixed breed, about 50% lab, 25% pointer, 25% healer. We got her as a puppy from Lafayette Animal Shelter. She’s 12 years old now but in her young whippersnapper days was fantastic with my kids. She somehow knew how to act appropriately with my kids, depending upon their ages. We never had to teach her how to do this.

Heelers and other herding dogs can be great but they have a tendency to nip at people and other animals.
We have one that we have to break from this behavior. My 9 year old catches hell trying to put him back in the crate.

My 3 kids grew up boxers. They are known for how great they are with kids. Boxers are basically toddlers for life themselves, silly and goofy. But as someone mentioned they can have health problems. I’ve lost 2 way too early with cancer.
I currently have my 4th boxer and can’t imagine not getting another

Once you have a boxer, you'll never want a different breed. Boxers are smart in what they can do around kids. Ours would roughhouse around me, but a kid could do anything to the boxer, and she would be incredibly docile. They are very protective against strangers when around kids.
