More than likely, you'll be going to court. Highly doubt a judge or jury would convict you, but you will be paying lawyer fees. The law doesn't protect you as a home/land owner.

Should be it you see someone break open your car door or brake glass you have the right to shoot weather your life is in danger or not.

Now days you have to convince a jury of idiots, and that's the real problem.
I don't leave anything of significant value in my car, nor do I own a car that's worth the headache to me.

I just throw the bodies into the Atchafalaya to avoid the hassle.

The laws need to be changed immediately.

These bastards are shooting/shooting at people during the commission of these crimes on a very regular basis. They are more than just car burglars; they are out there trying to commit murder. If you dare go outside by accident or otherwise, you are indeed walking into a life threatening situation. There should be no reason why this isn't a direct argument for legal self defense.

If that's not considered "serious enough", we are all completely f**ked. May as well start putting what you've worked for out to the street for these vermin.

There are plenty of scenarios under that fact pattern, where a DA ain't bringing charges. I'd put it at a bit north of 50% in overall odds that they wouldn't.

I'm not suggesting I'd roll the dice on such odds, I'm just quibbling with the "more than likely you'll be going to court" point.

Use one of these if you don't feel like blood trailing them

Ha, joke's on you.

My chest hair and silk disco shirt keeps my gold chains from making noise.

Plus, my white socks w/ flip-flops are pretty quiet.

If you live in a neighborhood where people break into garages, it's time to move.

Back in the 80's, someone tried breaking in our house. Cop said if it happens again, shoot them and drag them inside. My how times have changed.

Louisiana is a stand your ground state. I’m not a lawyer nor do I claim to be. Doing a quick Google search I found this. This sounds reasonable but again a lawyer would know if this is accurate.

RS 14 20
A homicide is justifiable: (1) When committed in self-defense by one who reasonably believes that he is in imminent danger of losing his life or receiving great bodily harm and that the killing is necessary to save himself from that danger.

If I feel my life or my family was in danger, obviously I’d protect my loved ones and myself. Would I shoot someone for stealing my stuff out of the garage. That’s a case by case situation. I personally wouldn’t unless it was either me or them. But for certain I’d call the police and detain them by the muzzle of my 300 Blackout.

And if that fear is reasonable. The DA and perhaps a jury will decide "reasonable".

If the perp is white blast away. If the perp is black, the jury , judge, media, social media are going give you the death penalty

This is covered by State laws, so you’ll want to check laws in whatever state you live in. In Louisiana, you want to look at La. R.S. 14:19 and 14:20. 14:19 is what’s known as the “castle” doctrine, and may or may not include a garage.

I would recommend every gun owner be generally aware of the self defense laws in their state, so this is a good topic.
