I grew a beard because I was getting fat and, at 57, it was suggested as the easiest fix for looking a bit thinner.

I've now lost 22 lbs. but I'm too lazy to shave even though my face now looks like a worn-out, hairy 1970s cooter.

Ugly fricks with weak jaw lines are the only people who grow beards.

Meh, that’s just false.. i mean, not that this is anything to aspire to- but i can think of many decent-looking celebrities off the top of my head who sport beards.. think McConaughey , Affleck, Clooney, etc... again, hate bringing ‘celebrities’ into the conversation, but we all know who they are and can see that’ they have no problems attracting ladies with or without beards, yet choose to grow them.

Hate shaving and don't call on plants anymore so I'm more than happy to stick to having a beard after having to shave for so many years

I don't know about a 'trend' except it seems to be a thing for hipsters in bigger cities. Around here (intermountain west) I let mine grow in the winter to keep my face warm for ice climbing and snowmobiling but shave it off come late spring.

I hate shaving, but I hate having hair on my face even more. So I shave.

I don't think it makes guys look thinner at all. Just the opposite actually.

I'll admit, I don't shave all the way because I used to get some acne around the neck and jaw. The multi blades cut your hair beneath the surface. Mine grows back pretty quick, so you have a hair trying to burst through a clogged pore and boom, you have a zit/ingrown hair.

So I just keep mine trimmed.

Plant Operators aren't allowed beards therefore, I would assume 90% of the board doesn't have one.
