They had to dredge 25 acre-feet of literal shite out of an urban lake. That's expensive. The monetary impact of not dredging the lakes would have far outweighed the amount it is taking to dredge the lakes.
I wonder how many guns and what other odd objects they’ve found?

That language being in the contract just means that there will be prolonged litigation whenever it does run past the deadline.

You aren’t very good at hiding bodies if you are sticking them in a 4’ deep lake

Every time I drive through Louisiana, I’m amazed at how lazy road workers are.
Years ago we drove to Houston from Louisiana and got into town around 10 pm. We ran into some construction on one of the highways. The crew were working at night with lighting so basically construction 24 hours. I was shocked and impressed to see this since Louisiana construction goes on for years.

This happens all the time in Louisiana. They just completed the bluff rd project by doing this. People in this thread are bitching about shite they know nothing about. Have you never seen Light Towers on the side of the road in construction zones?

The cost to dispose of it was likely higher than thought.
The cost to transport silt is astronomical. I think the more cost effective way was to coffer dam areas to dry and then pull it out dry. Likely the homeowners put up a stink about that.

For the first time about 5-6 months ago, I just started to notice real progress. It has been going on for some time though.

Those lakes were completely dead.
Needed to happen.
Needed to happen.

quote:No. The homeowners wanted the project more than anyone. But, it (and much of the budget) was hijacked by other interests and they give only lip service to even the most reasonable feedback or input from homeowners. They have their plan made by “experts” and are sticking to it — even if it changes on a monthly basis.
Likely the homeowners put up a stink about that.

I've watched this project closely since its inception as I pass it multiple times a day. It is the biggest frick up I've seen in a long time.
I could've taken a crew of 15 baws and finished it a year ago. These people are fricking thieves.

They can move millions of tons of sand/mud for coastal restoration and dredge the mighty Mississippi, but the LSU lakes is a bridge too far.
