What is an appropriate tip for your barista at Starbucks?

When the temperature drops, sometimes DaBoss likes to enjoy a venti peppermint mocha from his local Starbucks. I usually leave a dollar for the fine craftsmanship of my barista. Is this considered an appropriate tip?

Why tip someone for a job I'm capable of doing myself? I can deliver food, I can drive a taxi, I can and do cut my own hair. I did, however, tip my urologist. Because I am unable to pulverize my own kidney stones.

I like to enter in very softly and slowly, usually just the tip. However, in the morning if I'm in a hurry I'll give the barista more than just the tip.

Everywhere I go I see a tip jar at the counter, like they are somehow deserving a tip. Going above and beyond, out of your way, or helping carry a heavy load to my car is what deserves a tip. Not making a coffee or bagging my sandwich, you fricking get paid to do that.

When it comes to bars or baristas, I tip a minimum of $1 per drink. If you can't afford that, don't drink out.
