Idk about immune, but I’d say basic utility jobs. They might have some layoffs, but they have to keep the lights on, water running, trash service. If those start to breakdown, we’re really talking problems.

Also prob plants, same thing some layoffs. However if they shut down and slow the first step in the supply chain, effects will be major down the road.

I'm in commercial real estate valuation and consulting. A lot of our clients are banks who probably are more concerned / active during rough markets as they are worried about how under water they are with a given loan. Plus properties in foreclosure have to be evaluated annually and our office is probably busier during recessions.

I certainly feel lucky to not be concerned about my income right now. I am curious how it will impact our operation, as we may be limited in terms of going to look at property. But we have a pretty wide range and flexibility in terms of the due diligence required for each assignment as we really just have to meet the needs of the client.

I’m a claims adjuster and luckily it hasn’t affected me yet. People still have damage to their homes/businesses that need inspecting. This has affected us on getting to people sooner, but not where I’m concerned about being laid off.

But this is affecting some family members of mine.

Double whammy: Healthcare IT

Oddly enough, healthcare companies get hit during recessions too. You wouldn't think so, but far fewer people are getting that hip replacement that they could put off for 8 months.

Must be.

Technically, almost every industry is in jeopardy, because if businesses go under and people lose jobs, the economy shrinks.

But there are certainly some industries that are better suited to survive this than others.

No they’re not. Government contracts can’t just be cancelled. It requires a termination clause and then recourse. I actually worked on several proposals today for clients. Changes in the federal government are like trying to turn a cargo ship, it takes a long time. Any government cutbacks will be felt in fiscal year 2021 as the money is already spent this year.

It almost seems like some people don't understand this. There are very few protected industries. Government is the best one but generally has shite pay compared to a private company but better retirement.
