Let's assume ancient civilizations did create a space drive allowing them to use a 1G drive with constant acceleration where their Lorentz factor grew gradually higher as they traveled the stars to another world.

Then they return back home to Earth with all this advanced tech.

To them, they were gone 30 years - and now fifty years old, these humans have returned to earth to find us where we are now.

Before landing, they are sending out probes/drones and spot checking society to learn the language and culture so they can blend in and teach us what they know.

You have to ask yourself - did ancient aliens fly past earth eons ago, see a bunch of monkeys, say "damn, those monkeys are hot" and had sex with those monkeys, thus creating the human race?

You have to ask yourself.

Why wouldn’t there be archeological evidence of a civilization that could build a space ship like that? Buildings, metal shite, electronics, etc.

Are we supposed to believe people in stone buildings colonized space?

Maybe they dropped some animals and people off on a distant planet we call Earth, and are returning.

why not? it doesn't have to be a spiraling civilization - it could have been a civilization currently under the ocean or covered under the ice in the antarctic.

We are STILL discovering lost civilizations right here in the United States.

Yeah, but not advanced civilizations.

I think we actually are the product of an earth/alien gene combination. It's in a lot of the ancient mythologies.

I actually met David Childress at AlienCon in Dallas this past October. Nice guy. I hope they have another one. It was a lot more interesting than I expected it to be.

Serious question. People ceased to exist tomorrow.

4000 years go by and magically “modern” people are just dropped back off.

How much of today’s “high tech” society do you believe they will find?

What kind of probes? I've never seen one.

4000 years is a lot of decay. Still, if they could decipher the languages they encounter, they'd probably be able to recover quite a bit, over a long time of course.

This is the difference between ancient civilizations and modern ones. Far more writing would survive a total catastrophe. A lot of ancient civilizations either didn't have writing or it was confined to a privileged class. Also, a lot of ancient knowledge wasn't copied and proliferated. It wound up being stored in single libraries that were destroyed for one reason or another.

Who else thinks that the Richat Structure really was once Atlantis? I do. Hopefully, the government of Mauritania will one day not be a bunch of glorified warlords and someone with balls can go dig there.

I'd have to be in space by myself a long time before I'd consider fricking a monkey.

Well, on a hyper-sophisticated level that we don't even have the capacity to conceive, they thought monkeys were hot, and fricked them.
