I doubt it would be affluent due to all of the plants, but it would likely be a middle class suburb like a smaller version of Youngesville or Broussard are for Lafayette.

You could say the same about the causeway but look at the north shore. I think the bridge traffic due to the horrible design definitely has an impact.

Go back 60+ years ago and Port Allen had some nice houses in a very small town grid surrounded on the north and west by cane fields, and on the south by industry and eventually the interstate.
The population aged and died off and their kids didn’t hang around.

So a potential 10 minute commute that may extend to 45 mins or so (if taking the old bridge) is better than living in ascension parish or denham springs? It makes no sense.

That bridge is closed almost weekly due to an accident. Obviously I'm not the only one that thinks so. Prairieville has a larger population than West Baton Rouge Parish

It would grow more because of the proximity to downtown. How much more I'm not really sure.
