I’ve taken note of which neighbors are government snitches and now absolutely don’t trust. They are the type that help tyrants.

I have learned that there are a lot more people unconcerned about willing to work than I thought.

I also learned that many people are okay with "moving the goalposts" of our "leaders.

Makes me feel very uneasy the next big time crisis will occur about how much over stepping of the government will be allowed by the people

The only good thing I've learned is that when school and organized activities are cancelled, kids will have a blast playing outdoors just like we used to in "the old days."

Pretty much. I knew that before this started, but it has just further solidified it. People suck.

Never count on anyone for anything. Be as self sufficient as possible, take care of yourself and family. Government and media are jokes we allow to fester.

I believed this before the pandemic. Although people will give out the vain attempts to care about a stranger, when you rip off their mask(figuratively) they only stick to their little tribe of exclusion.

So, in a period of time we were asked to stay to our tribe and exclude others you learned they Americans stick to their tribe of exclusion.

I learned that we bitch way too much, that when families and kids got rid of all the bullshite they seemed to really enjoy each other and become closer to their friends and neighbors in a way that is impossible when we are rushing from one bullshite activity to the other.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

People that take care of their inner circle are worth far more than those who don't but spew useless platitudes about saving the earth.

It's possible to both take care of your inner circle while also having concern for strangers and people outside your immediate circle. The callousness people have shown for "just" ~85,000 deaths(and growing) is despicable. Somehow they don't matter to some because they're old or had underlying health problems or some other dehumanizing reason.

85,000 in just three months. And spare me the arguments that that is just a fraction of the overall population. That is 85,000 people that had sons, daughters, spouses, siblings, parents, friends, etc. It's a number that would almost fill a lot of SEC football stadiums. It's a number that dwarfs the number of the combined deaths in several modern wars we've been involved in. We all that callousness would quickly erode away as soon as one of those 85,000 is someone they are close to.

That there are a lot of morons and yahoos who don’t listen to science. Fools who can’t respect other people’s lives and would rather see people die than use their brains. On the other hand, I have seen people respecting others by wearing masks and gloves. Too bad idiots can’t respect people’s health.

It's pretty bad. Although, yesterday I noticed a couple of very fit ultra marathon runner type women I'd never seen before. I have run/walked/biked this hood for almost 20 years so I know everyone. They must be in the 5am crew that's now running whenever they want due to covid and perfect weather.
