I used nicorette lozenges then substituted altoid minis to step down gradually

Smoked cigs for 20 years and my Dr recommended I switch to vaping to help me quit. I transitioned to vaping for about 6 months then took Chantix .5 mg for 6 weeks and I was able to quit. I was skeptical about vaping, but I found it to be so much easier to put that down. The dreams were terrible as other posters said but I haven't had a cig/vape in 4 years.

What has your experience been with Chantix?
A very mild mannered and quiet friend started taking chantex and turned into a total jerk. A week later he took his own life. This was 10 years ago. The fda is well aware of this side effect and has done nothing.
Smoking is potentially less detrimental to your health than taking a mind altering drug to quit.

As multiple people have said. Alan Carr’s “easy way to quit smoking”
I downloaded on audible, listened to it while smoking over a 5 day period. Finished on day 5 and haven’t have a cig in 5 years.
One of my reps at work mentioned it to me as I shared it was time for me to quit. Best recommendation I’ve ever received.

Patches and different meds are fine, but will power is the ultimate med to quitting. I’m trying to convince myself to quit but it’s fricking hard. I know that one day soon I’ll wake up and just not light one. Still being in the grieving process makes it even harder for me.
My wife and I both smoked. About a half a pack a day, so not to bad.
We took a trip to Italy and were going to be staying with relatives while there, so we quit the day we boarded the plane. Did not and have not missed it at all. Will never go back.
No patches, no gum, no vaping, just straight cold turkey.

Chantix turned me into a psychopath. My already thin level of tolerance disappeared. I coulda bitten the head off a snapping turtle on that shite. Don’t recommend

Chantix definitely works. I had super vivid dreams when I used it.
Every time you use it, it’s less effective. The first time I quit easily and like a dumb arse picked a pack over a year later.
I did this a couple of times, each time quitting for a significant amount of time, and then eventually succumbed to using the gum.
I chew the frick out of that gum to this day.

My wife used it and it worked for her.
I went cold turkey. I set a date and smoked one cigarette a day for 4 or 5 days and didn't buy anymore. I used cinnamon Altoids as my crunch after that and was good within 7-10 days.
The habitual part was the weird side of it. It took months and months of getting in my truck and not cracking my window automatically like I was going to smoke or sit in a hunting blind and not immediately think of dipping.

Nicotine withdrawal symptoms can be challenging, and each person experiences them differently. Symptoms usually appear 4–24 hours after quitting, peak about 3 days later, and gradually subside over the following 3–4 weeks. However, if you have a history of anxiety and depression, your withdrawal symptoms could last longer.

Chantix works. Don't go drinking your arse off on it though. You can go from normal, happy, slightly drunk to "I did what last night!" in about 2 drinks.
Chantix cut the cravings down to almost zero...take the full 12 week course.

I quit smoking using chantix. Smoked for a few days after I started taking it and then just stopped completely. Kept taking the pills for probably an additional six months even though it gave me bad dreams every night. But I wanted to make sure I didn’t start back.

It worked for me. But I do agree with everyone on the wild arse dreams. Either extremely violent or sexual. I should probably talk to someone about that

After taking Chantix for two weeks I could not stand the taste of a cigarette. After a month I was done smoking and never touched it again.

Worked well for me. I was on it about six months and have been nicotine free since 17 Apr.

Helps to pick a day to quit a couple weeks out. Get your mind right and be actually ready to quit and you can do it.

Chantix did the job for me, but I heard recently it has cancer implications. If you leave a patch on overnight you have lucid dreams that you can control.

Back when that stuff first came out a guy told me he had the most insane nightmares while taking it.

I quit cold turkey 22 years ago and didn't have a problem with doing it that way. Up to the time I quit I was often a 1 1/2 to 2 pack a day smoker.
My wife tried to quit and for a while tried Chantix but, according to her, wound up having horrible nightmares and had to stop using it. Didn't matter since within less than 2 weeks of quitting she was back smoking and still does to this day.

2 packs of Camel Wides a day to nothing. I was ok with people smoking other cigarettes around me. Show me a photo of a pack of Camel Wides or put a pack in front of me, I would salivate. Cantix didn't make me have vivid dreams like the doctor said. I think I was more upset with that than anything.. 13 years smoke free.

15 years smoke free from Chantix after smoking at least a pack a day 20 years.
Terrible bloody dreams but once my mind knew what was happening at night they went away. I took 2 weeks, quit cigs, took 2 weeks more and quit instead of the full 3 months.
Started running and havent stopped.
On Chantix I didn't want cigs, alcohol, nothing.

crazy crazy nightmares
I used Chantix for a short period while trying to quit dipping. I had a nightmare that I cut off my wife's arms and legs with a hatchet and was beating her with them. Blood was everywhere. I never took another Chantix after that and unfortunately I am still dipping.
