Had my 11 yr old f150 pickup with 200k miles on it towed to Ford dealer because the engine bogged down on me. By the time I got to the dealership I already knew it was a stuck throttlebody valve which is about $150 and can be installed in 10 min with a screwdriver.
Dealer quoted me $7000 for major surgery on the engine.

I told them to get screwed, bought the part, installed it and drove home.

Yeah huge scam industry.

I agree unless it’s some kind of huge problem.

We had mold growing in our bathrooms and hired a mold remediation specialist to “kill” and clean it. $2000 to essentially bug bomb it and wipe the walls. I wonder how much those canisters were.

The mold started growing back about three months later.

31k for the "top of line" AC replacement. One Hour air conditioning obviously.

had an urgent matter in one of my clinics and booked a few desperation appointments before getting the "always on call" company out there... He told me total replacements at least 20k probably more. I kept the other appointments and wouldn't you know that number kept going down with every guy that came out...think it finally settled at a 4-5k repair

I agree. The concrete guys are out the box with their prices. I got multiple quotes for a driveway. These guys pull up in brand new 80k trucks.

A good crew that was reasonable could steal everyones business.

I did a 12X90 for $6,500 just over a year ago. Concrete was $188 per yard. That sounds high as GP.
