No, but tomorrow you can thank me for the taxes I pay to support the military. Which I’m happy to do for them.

Today is meant for veterans to thank us for paying taxes

You mean it's not for the short tubby guy that jumped in front of the long line at the RaceTrac yesterday wanting asking about veteran discounts in his 60 oz. Coke? He missed the memo. I hate those frickers.

This was awhile back but I was behind one of these at Auto zone. From what I could gather the person checking out people was relatively new, wasn't sure about military discounts and had to leave for a second to go in the back to ask someone.

The idiot who was checking out was bitching to people because the cashier, who told him that she hasn't worked there long, had to go ask someone. I think she had to put in some code or something, which didn't work at first and the jackass "politely "informed her that if they simply had the code available at the desk it wouldn't have taken her 10 mins to get him checked out. He was a short beer gut jackass in his late 40s to early 50s maybe? That's my one and only experience with those types, but he was probably a typist or some shite in the military.

It’s for those that died in service. It’s not for veterans or those currently in the military. A lot of people think it’s for them. No sir. This isn’t your day. It’s for those that gave all. This is their special day for us to remember them.

Honor Memorial Day for it’s true purpose.

I've seen this sentiment around.

Do you think it's offensive to those (families of those) that lost their life?

Not everyone is a veteran. Shocking I know.

I know that… browbeating folks thanking Vets for their service kinda gave it away that you didn’t serve

Yeah, but the true honorees can’t be the grand marshal of the parade.

You can celebrate or honor Memorial Day however you want. That’s what they died for. That was the point.

Offensive would be too strong a word. Definitely disrespectful. Understand what the day is about.

I’ve had about a dozen texts today thanking me for my service. It’s annoying but I just say thank you instead of correcting people for trying to do something nice and thoughtful.

I have a USAA card (never served) and get thanked for my service at nicer establishments all the time. I have given up on trying to explain I didn't serve, my father did, etc, so I just say thanks and steal the valor.

Dumb take. It’s not their day. They have their own day. Maybe it’s ok with you that people should be ignorant of what the day is really about.

I take advantage of all Veteran discounts.,, if that short tubby guy you referring to served he should also… what memo are you referring to??

Some of us went into the military our because we wanted to serve our country, not to get discounts on shitty haircuts from Supercuts and Big Gulps from 7-11.

But you do you boo.

No not really… I got his point… he was put off by a guy he deemed short and tubby wanting his military discount.,, from that interaction he wrote off his service with a comment that he probably was a typist in the military l.. what’s the other point I miss.. and yes if the discount code was readily available it wouldn’t took ten minutes

Anyone arguing for a discount for a fountain coke at a gas station is a loser. I don’t care what the discount is for.

Yup. A lot of dumb fricks in the world. Just trying to un-dumb some of them regarding this very special day.

I was saying he was probably a typist. My point is that you rarely see the ones who truly deserve any type of discount seek out discounts.
