He's just a contrarian and likes to point out that this site is 90% middle class fancy suburban country-boy-can-survive types

You gotta flip the script on him. If you tell him Applebees is terrible he'll be like "Actually, Applebees in Austin...."

It's a country bumpkin thing. Usually comes with a camo hat and a Confederate flag bumper sticker.

Or a brand new Tahoe and a Jason Aldean CD

Yeah, I barely ever have a time where I wish I had a knife on me, but pretty much everyday I’m in a situation where I wish I had a decent multi-tool.

Something around the house always needs to be tightened, opened, wedged-apart or cut.

My husband carries one and I ask for it so often that he bought me a tiny one for my purse. He always has it in his pocket (and a handkerchief) which is much easier than going find scissors.

I don't have to look cool opening my Amazon packages so a box cutter works just fine.

ditto, but I’m 50 and it is probably 10 times my entire life

I stopped carrying one pretty quickly after having them be confiscated at various sporting events and concerts. I'll carry one fishing and hunting but other than that I never need one. I'm not a maintenance man.

If they had a mini, workable light saber, damn that would be awesome.

You think men carry a pocket knife to look cool?

Never mind me questioning if you’re a woman. All doubt has been erased.

I have a lot of knives but I don't always carry one. I work in an office, like most suburban or urban guys do. I don't like stuff in my pockets.

Seeing 4 dudes trip over each other to offer up their Benchmade to someone opening a birthday present is always hilarious, though.

I carry one in my work bag, which I always have with me, but I don't keep it on me. I use it mostly to cut open packaging for equipment

I think people who work with their hands have knives more. Not really sure, but I carry one of those folding razor knives on me all the time and use it at least once a day. I think the more stuff you do yourself, the more chances you'll end up carrying a knife out of necessity. I'm not making a statement, I just need to cut stuff a lot when I'm working or fixing things.

Some of us don't have room for a pocket knife because of the spare pmags we've got to carry
