Naw man, it's the pinnacle of manhood to carry a pocket knife around that you only touch in the morning putting it in your pocket and at night putting it back on the night stand.

Lol, what?

No, I'm in IT. My laptop bag is full of tools and notebooks and a pocket knife.

What he's saying is that there isn't much actual need for most people to carry a knife on them at all times. Sure, some people might have a need to. But for most, probably not.

I mean seriously, if you work in an office environment, how often could you possibly need a knife on a day-to-day basis? If you actually need a knife to open a fedex envelope or a cardbox box, you sound like a pansy. I prefer to rip that shite open with my god-given hands. But if you need that extra help, there's no shame in that I suppose.

This isn't a question of masculinity. It's a question of practicality. Having my own shaker of salt could come in handy from time to time, but I don't carry one around with me every day.

I carry two knives on a daily basis, a clip knife and a two blade pocket knife.
If hunting or hiking or camping I carry a fixed blade knife instead of the clip knife. Any fixed blade I carry is one that I made. I also make the sheaths.
I sharpen all kinds knives, hatchets, axes, chisels, carving tools, plane blades, etc. I don't work in an office, and I guess you could say I am technically from the country, though I'm not really. I've carried at least a pocket knife everywhere I go since I was 12ish, even to school....God forid!
If I fly, I leave them at home and will just buy a cheap pocket knife wherever I go.

Seems like hardcore projection to go from not carrying a knife to watching your wife getting railed. Something you need to get off your chest? This is a judgement free zone.

it was the NCAA tournament

F the NCAA. I was working a regional at the AAC in Dallas. They had free food for the media, but had not opened to serve before the 11:30 am game. I went to the concession stand and grabbed a little pan pizza and a 32 oz. diet coke and went to my seat at the scorer's table. During the first timeout, a security guy came and told me I couldn't have the 32 oz. Coke cup at that table. Dasani was an NCAA corporate sponser, their cups were in the media lounge, and that's the only ones we could have at that table. They gave me three 12 oz. Dasani cups, and I had to pour my drink into them. I'd have had the free cup over the one I paid $3.00 for if they'd opened the lounge earlier.

That’s ridiculous. Coke owns Dasani.

Same time they ended shop class and home-ec

What generation was in charge of ending those programs, ruining the education system, and destroying America’s youth? You guessed it: The Boomers.

Well everyone has a different life. Some need a pocketknife for their job, some need it to have something for self defense. For someone to suggest that people have a knife because of an image they’re trying to portray is just dumb. Does this also mean that people who carry a concealed handgun are doing so to maintain an image? Are they also try hards?

I always carry.

I had to leave one on a ledge at six flags and the old capital building before entering. Got them when I left.
