Jefferson parish was were the crips and bloods were. When I was young in public school all three big gangs had presence.
I had a few Kings friends, one is a homicide detective on the east coast. A blood I've known since I was five is doing 15 in Angola now. I'm not friends with him but randomly send his daughter stuff in his name because she thinks her dad is off on a ship.
The "gangs" of JP were mostly wiped out once Harry Lee formed the gang task Force.
Now tattoos rather than bandanas are used to show affiliation.
I still see pitchforks, five dots, ck and crowns on hands app I know these gangs are still out there.

First, not a Meme.
Second did you know some gang bangers join the military just for the training?? A lot of criminals have no record. Have to get caught to have a record.
Lastly explain Suge Knight? Bodyguard to the stars, gets enough money to start record label. Straight up Soo Woo. Yet later let's cuz's in Death Row.

I don't think it's true.
Just they never had large turf in the city.
Groups of black, hispanics and wanna be's founded their own chapters in the early 90's. Places like River Ridge (that really bad part by the tracks), Bunche Village in Metaire, Susan Park, Lincoln Manor and parts of UVC in Kenner had gangs that were blood or crip. Usually only 10-20 deep.
The Latin Kings had a huge chapter in Kenner, kenner was their's.
But they would have jumpings and brawls. Rarely had killings.
I even as a kid thought it was dumb.
Humans though, we have a tribal mentality. Most seek to be a part of something.

I don’t. This is all pretty common knowledge. I’d imagine narcotics and homocide divisions are wondering why others worked so hard to get rid of Marcello’s Crew. For any perceived faults, they kept things under control in the city at lot better than it is now. Same for Chicago. Other than the Latin gangs, Chicago is where most of the organized originate from now (Simon City Royals, Gansta Disciples, Vice Lords, etc.), rather than L.A. from the 1980s. Chicago stuck their head in the sand and pretended it was not happening and now are calling on feds to help after it has gotten out of control. NOLA is not close to that level yet, though.
