I'm enjoying the last few years of my daughter still being a little girl. Pretty soon it's on to the teens and all of that shite

This is the part I dread. My little girl has me wrapped around her finger when she is sweet. When she gets all stupid emotional for no damn reason I don’t even know what to do. And it will only get worse.

I never had my own kids but I raised both my step children. They both call me daddy. Both are grown are successfull Their dad was in and out of their life. My son goes around him some now my daughter (no pics ) not so much. We had a discussion not long ago. He told me that I did a good job raising them and sorry that I had to do so much while he wasn't around. I told him I'm sorry that he missed out , I would be lost without them

Glad I got a cash job now cause no way I was paying 18 years of support.

Eta: I still see him sometimes when his mom's husband is offshore and it's an away game.

I can't disagree with this one, Ryno. This is the way I view it, in my simple mind anyway. Wish I could view it as a privilege and joy first...

I'm worried to know that you are a father.

why? I talk a lot of shite on here, sure. But I try to be objective. I respect hard working people. I follow my own code. I do no undeserved harm.

I’m a man of flaws but i’d Like to think that overall i’m a provider to my children and I don’t depend on any but my own to take care of them.

If that makes me a bad father then so be it.

My theory has always been to keep them as safe as possible, unconditional love & give them all the tools to have a better life than I did.

Right!?

Or when they run up full speed to hug you and nail you in the crotch. You can’t even be mad.

For me it is coming to grips with my own flaws and making sure to correct them so as not to instill them in my children. It means acknowledging the immense responsibility of having someone's livelihood in your hands and making sure you protect that life and allow it to thrive.

I get great joy out of watching them grow into small people, and great satisfaction when the hard parts of being a father come to bear in their personalities and attitudes.

Most important task God has given me.

I don’t depend on my wife or my parents or in law.
I feel solely responsible for their well being.
Especially at these young ages.

That’s just me though.

It means I have roughly 18 years to get my child ready to be a responsible adult.

Next year, I'll know if I succeeded, but right now things are looking pretty good.
