I imagine some of these other services are a lot more spotty. If you don't travel and have good service of one of these, then I don't see why you wouldn't switch over. I've seen some of them give out BOGO phones, too.

The downside to some of those secondary carriers is that the customer service is abysmal, and they can try to hijack your phone number if you decide to switch at a later date. Mostly it isn't an issue because you mostly don't really need to contact your cell phone carrier very often, but when you do it can be a big pain in the arse.

As long as I don't make any changes and just keep updating my phone, they let me keep my old plan.

Ive got the 40$ straight talk unlimited everything from Walmarts.
