I told my wife that I wanted to be cremated so that she could use any money that it would cost for an actual funeral on herself and our children. She was not down for the cremation

Cremation isn’t free. All in all it cost almost the same as a traditional burial.

I set it up to donate my body to UAB medical school. Told my wife to host a dinner/party at a nice restaurant and skip the scumbags at the funeral homes.

My goal is to make sure there are not enough large enough pieces in one place for anyone to worry about the final disposition.

my father‘s funeral in 2003 was $16,000. So you’re telling me the cremation is going to be around $16,000?

I’ve completed process to donate my body for research. They’ll cremate what’s left and fedex back.

Family will get my remains in ~ 60 days.

Have my burial paperwork completed with VA.

Grand total burial costs - $0.

I have 5 kids. I want to be cremated and my ashes put in 5 tchotchkes so that each of my kids has one.

I’ve already told my wife just to cremate me. Cheap, easy. I’d rather a large chunk of money I saved not go to some funeral house fleecing operation, but more towards the well being of my family.

*donate any organs that can be donated.
*cremate my body. No one will be allowed to have any of my remains. Funeral home will be directed to dispose of.
*no funeral. After a few weeks I want my family and friends to have a party for me. Grill a steak, drink a beer, tell lies about me. Then move on.

Probably going to be more than that. I buried both of my parents last year and it was 14K each in small town Alabama.

Would you mind asking him if he could post some pics of your Mom here?

To each his own but I think this is weird as shite.

My FIL said he wanted to do this and I’m worried we’re gonna have a jar of a dead guy sitting on our mantle for 30 years beside the tv.

Just seems odd to me. I love the idea of spreading them where there’s a beautiful sunset so my kids can come sit there and be with me again.

My dad was cremated but we had a wake/memorial first so he had to be embalmed and we had to rent a casket. The total cost was around $10,000.

I could see the disappointment in their eyes when we told them that we opted for cremation and wouldn’t be buying any burial plots.
